The Buffalo Bills waive LB Antonio Coleman

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Leaving Town by admin on Saturday 17 December 2011 at 7:55 pm

The Bills have waived 25-year old linebacker Antonio  Coleman.  Coleman played in 3 games for the Bills this year and he had 4 tackles.  Coleman played in 11 games in his two years with the Bills and he had 16 tackles.  If Coleman clears waivers, the Bills will likely try to re-sign him to their practice squad.

The Buffalo Bills have released TE David Martin

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Leaving Town by admin on Tuesday 27 September 2011 at 10:13 pm

The Bills have released 32-year old TE David Martin.  Martin played in 3 games for the Bills this year but he didn’t catch any passes.  Martin played in 19 games in two years with the Bills and he caught 7 passes for 43 yards (6.1 avg) with 1 TD grab.  This isn’t much of a loss for the Bills as Martin wasn’t adding much to the offense.

The Buffalo Bills release center Geoff Hangartner

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 9:27 pm

The Bills have released 29-year old center Geoff Hangartner.  Hangartner played in 12 games (all starts) for the Bills last year.  He played in 28 games (all starts) in his two years with the Bills.  This is a very interesting move for the Bills, as they are likely to have one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL.  With that in mind, they probably should have kept a veteran like Hangartner around for 2011.

The Buffalo Bills release a couple players

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 5:15 pm

The Bills have cut 25-year old LB Antonio Coleman and 24-year old OT Ed Wang.  Coleman played in 8 games as a rookie for the Bills last year and he had 12 tackles.  Ed Wang played in 6 games (0 starts) as a rookie last year for the Bills.  The Bills weren’t too impressed with either of these players in the preseason or training camp, so it made perfect sense to cut them loose.

The Buffalo Bills waive TE Shawn Nelson

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 5:13 pm

The Bills have waived 25-year old TE Shawn Nelson.  Nelson played in 5 games (1 start) for the Bills last year and he caught 3 passes for 25 yards (8.3 avg).  He played in 17 games (13 starts) in his two years with the Bills and he caught 20 passes for 181 yards (9.1 avg) with 1 TD grab.  The Bills shouldn’t miss Nelson too much as he wasn’t much of a threat in the passing game.

The Buffalo Bills release OLB Aaron Maybin

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Leaving Town by admin on Tuesday 16 August 2011 at 2:33 pm

The Bills have released 23-year old OLB Aaron Maybin who has been a complete bust as a first round pick!  Maybin played in 11 games for the Bills last year and he had a whopping 6 tackles.  He played in 27 games in his two years with the Bills and he had 24 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss and 1 forced fumble.  Even if he turns into a legit player for another team, the Bills just couldn’t afford to wait as he sucked for them.  This is no loss for the Bills.

The Buffalo Bills release Marcus Stroud

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Leaving Town by admin on Thursday 17 February 2011 at 1:14 am

The Buffalo Bills have released 32-year old NT/DT Marcus Stroud.  Stroud played in 15 games for the Bills last season and he had 49 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, 3 sacks, 2 passes defensed and 1 forced fumble.  In Stroud’s three years with the Bills, he played in 46 games in which he had 150 tackles, 17 passes defensed, 7.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles.  The Bills are looking to rebuild on the defensive side of the field and they are looking to improve the run defense, so the release of Stroud comes as little surprise.

The Buffalo Bills have released Pierre Woods

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Leaving Town by admin on Friday 11 February 2011 at 10:46 pm

The Buffalo Bills have released 29-year old linebacker Pierre Woods.  Woods played in 4 games for the Bills last season and he had 4 tackles.  Woods has now played in 58 games in his first five years in the NFL and he has 112 tackles, 1 pass defensed, 1 forced fumble and 2 sacks.  The Bills need to rebuild on the defensive side of the football and Woods wasn’t in their plans.  The Bills won’t miss Woods at all in 2011.

The Buffalo Bills release Trent Edwards

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Leaving Town by admin on Tuesday 28 September 2010 at 11:36 am

The Bills tried to trade 26-year old QB Trent Edwards last week but they couldn’t find any takers so they cut him loose.  Edwards played in 2 games for the Bills this year and he completed 29 of 52 passes (55.8%) for 241 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 INTs (58.3 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 5 times for 24 yards (4.8 ypc) for the Bills this year.  Edwards played in 34 games in his four years with the Bills and he completed 535 of 878 passes (60.9%) for 5,739 yards with 25 TD passes and 27 INTs (76.8 QB Rating).  He also carried the ball 69 times for 296 yards (4.3 ypc) with 3 TD runs.  Brian Brohm will now be Ryan Fitzpatrick’s backup in Buffalo.  Edwards likely won’t be out of work too long as he will likely be claimed off waivers.  This move puzzles me a bit as Edwards is still young enough to turn things around.

UPDATE:  (9/29/2010) – Edwards was quickly snapped up off of waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Buffalo Bills release DE Aaron Schobel

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Leaving Town by admin on Thursday 5 August 2010 at 11:51 am

The Bills have released 32-year old DE Aaron Schobel.  Schobel played in 16 games for the Bills last season and he had 56 tackles, 10 sacks, 7 tackles for a loss, 1 interception (returned 26 yards for a TD), he forced 3 fumbles and he recovered 1 fumble.  Schobel played in 133 games in his 9 years with the Bills and he had 483 tackles, 28 passes defensed, 78 sacks, 19 forced fumbles and he had 3 interceptions.  Schobel is #2 on the Bills’ all-time list in sacks with 78.  He was behind only Bruce Smith who had a simply amazing 171 sacks in his career with the Bills.  Schobel was threatening retirement but I think he just wanted out of Buffalo.  This is a huge blow to the Bills.
