The Buffalo Bills sign Cornell Green

The Bills have signed 33-year old offensive tackle Cornell Green to a 3-year, $9 million dollar deal.  The 6′6″, 315 pound Green will likely be the starting right tackle for the Bills in 2010.  Green played in 12 games (all starts) for the Raiders last season.  He has now played in 89 games (46 starts) in his NFL career.  Green will be a improvement over Jonathan Scott who signed with the Steelers.

It looks like Ryan Fitzpatrick might be out this week for the Buffalo Bills

Ryan Fitzpatrick will probably not be able to play this Sunday against the Falcons due to a ankle injury.  He has played in 9 games for the Bills this season and he has completed 111 of 202 passes (55%) for 1,267 yards with 6 TD passes and 10 INTs (63.3 QB Rating).  He has also carried the ball 30 times for 134 yards (4.5 ypc) with 1 TD run this season.  The Bills might be forced to start Brian Brohm this weekend and that might not be pretty as the Packers didn’t let him anywhere near the field when he played with them.  Still, he was a good college QB so maybe he just needed a change of scenery.  The Bills have re-signed Gibran Hamdan to replace Trent Edwards on the active roster and he might be the #2 guy on Sunday.

The Buffalo Bills release DE Corey Mace

Blogged under Free Agent Additions, Bloglockers, Front Page, General Bills Chatter by admin on Wednesday 9 December 2009 at 7:46 pm

The Bills have released DE Corey Mace.  Mace played in 2 games for the Bills this season and he has made 1 tackle, defensed 1 pass and he had 1 interception.  Mace played two years for the Bills and he appeared in 5 games in which he made 2 tackles, defensed 1 pass and he picked off 1 pass.  The Bills won’t miss him too much as he was pretty far down the depth chart.  The Bills have re-signed TE Joe Klopfenstein to replace Mace on the roster.

The Buffalo Bills sign OG Kendall Simmons

The Bills have signed 30-year old Kendall Simmons.  The 6′3″, 315 pound Simmons will start at right guard this Sunday against the Dolphins.  He played in 1 game (0 starts) for the Patriots earlier this season before he was released.  In 8 years in the NFL, Simmons has played in 81 games (80 starts) and the Bills were lucky to find a player with that kind of experience waiting by his phone.

The Buffalo Bills sign QB Brian Brohm

Blogged under Free Agent Additions, Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Bills News, General Bills Chatter by admin on Thursday 19 November 2009 at 8:55 am

The Bills have signed 24-year old QB Brian Brohm off the Packers’ practice squad.  Brohm was a second round pick (#56 overall) of the Packers just two years ago so they thought he was pretty talented at one point.  With the situation the Bills have at QB it’s not impossible for Brohm to get on the playing field late this year.  This was a good low risk/high reward signing for the Bills.

UPDATE:  The Bills have released QB Gibran Hamdan to make room on the active roster for Brian Brohm.  This isn’t much of a loss for the Bills as Hamdan has not played in a regular season game at this point in his career.
