Buffalo Bills 35, Cincinnati Bengals 20

The Bills were too much for the Bengals last night in Buffalo.  Trent Edwards was solid as he completed 13 of 17 passes for 153 yards with 1 TD pass.  Ryan Fitzpatrick also looked good as he completed 6 of 9 passes for 77 yards with 1 TD pass.  Brian Brohm only threw 1 pass and it fell incomplete last night.  C.J. Spiller really looked good last night as he carried the ball 12 times for 52 yards (4.3 ypc) with 2 TD runs and he also caught 2 passes for 33 yards (16.5 avg).  Andre Anderson also looked good as he carried the ball 6 times for 43 yards (7.2 ypc) last night.  WR Roscoe Parrish (4 rec, 56 yards) and TE David Nelson (2 rec, 34 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Bills last night as they each caught 1 TD pass.  The Bills finished up with 132 yards rushing (4.4 ypc) and 217 yards passing last night.

The defense didn’t look too good last night against the Bengals.  You can’t blame safety George Wilson for that though as he led the way for the Bills last night with 9 tackles and 1 QB hit.  LB Andra Davis also was busy last night with 7 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss.  CB Reggie Corner made his mark in this game with 4 tackles, 1 pass defensed and a interception that he returned 20 yards for a TD.  The Bengals finished up with 119 yards rushing (5.0 ypc) and 276 yards passing in this game.  The Bills are now 2-1 on the pre-season.

Joique Bell is opening some eyes for the Buffalo Bills

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,The Pre Season by admin on Thursday 26 August 2010 at 2:07 pm

24-year old undrafted rookie RB Joique Bell out of tiny Wayne State (Michigan) has really opened some eyes around the league.  He has played in both pre-season games for the Bills and he has rushed for 132 yards on 16 carries (8.3 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  He has also caught 3 passes for 15 yards (5.0 avg) this year.  Bell might have a hard time making the Bills with C.J. Spiller, Marshawn Lynch, Fred Jackson and Chad Simpson ahead of him on the depth chart.  But, even if Bell doesn’t make the Bills some team will give him a chance as long as he finishes the pre-season strong.

The Buffalo Bills sign TE John Paul Foschi

The Bills have signed 28-year old TE John Paul Foschi.  Foschi played in 15 games (10 starts) for the Bengals last season and he caught 27 passes for 260 yards (9.6 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  He has now played in 33 games (15 starts) in his NFL career and he has caught 33 passes for 297 yards (9.0 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  This was a good signing for the Bills as Foschi played pretty well for the Bengals last year.

The Buffalo Bills lose a couple of players for a while

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 24 August 2010 at 7:59 pm

The Bills will be without TE Derek Schouman for the next 3-6 weeks due to a knee injury.  He just can’t seem to stay on the field for the Bills as he only played in 2 games (both starts) for them last season and he caught 9 passes for 103 yards (11.4 avg).  The Bills hope he makes a speedy recovery because they need all the help they can get on offense.  The Bills will also be without linebacker Reggie Torbor for the next three weeks due to a undisclosed injury.  Torbor had 5 tackles in the Bills’ first two pre-season games.  He played in 16 games (2 starts) for the Dolphins last season and he had 37 tackles, 1 sack, he defensed 4 passes and he had 1 interception.  The Bills hope that Torbor will be ready for the regular season opener against the Dolphins on September 12th.

The Buffalo Bills lose two rookies for the 2010 season

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Injury Reports,The Draft Report by admin on Tuesday 24 August 2010 at 7:55 pm

The Bills will be without 4th round pick Marcus Easley (WR) and 6th round pick Danny Batten (OLB) for the entire 2010 season.  Easley had surgery on his left knee and this is a big blow to the Bills who were hoping that he would help out their depleted WR corps in 2010.  Batten needed shoulder surgery.  His loss won’t be as big as the Bills weren’t expecting much more than special teams work out of Batten in 2010.

Buffalo Bills 34, Indianapolis Colts 21

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,The Pre Season by admin on Saturday 21 August 2010 at 10:57 am

The Bills looked much better in their second pre-season game on Thursday Night.  They had possession of the football for 35:34 in this game as they were hogging the ball.  Trent Edwards led the way for the Bills by completing 5 of 8 passes for 93 yards with 1 TD pass.  Brian Brohm got his first pre-season action and he was sharp completing 14 of 21 passes for 125 yards.  Rookie Levi Brown finished up this game at QB by completing 2 of 5 passes for 10 yards.  RB Joique Bell led the way on the ground for the Bills in this contest with 11 carries for 80 yards (7.3 ypc) with 1 TD run.  C.J. Spiller was also very effective with 10 carries for 54 yards (5.4 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Lee Evans (1 rec, 70 yards, TD) and Chad Jackson (5 rec, 52 yards) led the way in the passing game for the Bills.  The Bills rushed for 144 yards (4.2 ypc) and they also passed for 223 yards against the Colts.

The defense played pretty decent in this game for the Bills.  Rookie 6th round pick Arthur Moats (LB) led the way for the Bills’ D in this game with 6 tackles and a fumble recovery.  Linebacker Keith Ellison also had a good game with 4 tackles and a fumble recovery.  LB Donovan Woods (3 tackles, fumble recovery) and CB Terrence McGee (1 tackle, 1 pass defensed and a 78-yard interception return for a TD) also had solid games for the Bills.  The Colts finished up with 112 yards rushing (4.7 ypc) and 185 yards passing in this game.

The NFL suspends TE Shawn Nelson of the Buffalo Bills

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter by admin on Friday 20 August 2010 at 8:40 pm

The NFL has suspended 24-year old TE Shawn Nelson of the Bills for the first four games of the NFL regular season due to a violation of the league’s substance abuse policy.  Nelson played in 12 games (all starts) for the Bills as a rookie last year and he caught 17 passes for 156 yards (9.2 avg) with 1 TD grab.  This will hurt the Bills who were hoping that Nelson would improve and give them a threat from the TE position.

The Buffalo Bills lose Jairus Byrd indefinitely

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Injury Reports by admin on Friday 20 August 2010 at 7:02 pm

The Bills will be without 2nd year safety Jairus Byrd indefinitely due to groin surgery.  He had 1 tackle and 1 pass defensed in the Bills first two pre-season games.  Byrd was the runner up for the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year last year for the Bills.  He played in 14 games (11 starts) for the Bills last year and he had 45 tackles, 11 passes defensed and 9 interceptions (118 return yards.  George Wilson will replace him at free safety with Donte Whitner moving into the starting lineup at strong safety.  Wilson & Whitner are both solid football players so the Bills should be able to get by until Byrd is ready to return to action.

The Buffalo Bills lose two RBs for the rest of the pre-season

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 16 August 2010 at 1:15 pm

The Buffalo Bills have lost Fred Jackson (broken left hand) for the next 4-6 weeks and Marshawn Lynch for the next 3-4 weeks due to an ankle sprain.  Jackson carried the ball 2 times for 11 yards (5.5 ypc) in the pre-season opener while Lynch caught 1 pass for 12 yards.  The Bills will likely showcase rookie C.J. Spiller the rest of the pre-season.  He carried the ball 4 times for 16 yards (4.0 ypc) in the first game of the pre-season.  Look for Chad Simpson to also have a increased workload due to the injuries to Jackson and Lynch.  The Bills hope that Jackson & Lynch will be ready to go by the regular season opener.

The Bills ran into a buzzsaw last night in Washington as they couldn’t see to do much offensively or defensively.  Trent Edwards starting last night’s game for the Bills and he completed 6 of 12 passes for 58 yards with 1 INT.  Ryan Fitzpatrick followed him in the game and he completed 9 of 14 passes for 61 yards with 1 TD pass.  Rookie Levi Brown got his first taste of the NFL and it didn’t go too well last night as he completed 3 of 7 passes for 28 yards with 1 INT.  The Bills did run the ball well last night.  Chad Simpson led the way on the ground for the Bills last night with 7 carries for 67 yards (9.6 ypc).  Joique Bell also had a good game with 52 yards rushing on 5 carries (10.4 ypc) with 1 TD run.  C.J. Spiller pitched in with 16 yards rushing on 4 carries (4.0 ypc) last night.  TE David Nelson led the way in the passing game for the Bills last night with 5 catches for 47 yards (9.4 avg) with 1 TD grab.  The Bills finished up with 146 yards rushing (8.1 ypc) and they also had 147 yards passing as they only had possession of the ball for 23:39 last night!

The Bills were pushed around by the Redskins offense last night.  Safety Cary Harris led the way for the Bills last night with 7 tackles.  OLB Aaron Maybin finally started showing some signs of life last night with 4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss and 2 QB hits.  The Redskins finished up with 140 yards rushing (3.4 ypc) and 212 yards passing last night.
