The Buffalo Bills sign OT Langston Walker

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Bills Chatter by admin on Thursday 15 October 2009 at 8:10 pm

The Bills have brought back 30-year old OT Langston Walker.  Walker is a huge man at 6’8″, 366 pounds and he might step right in and get a lot of playing time starting this week.  He started 32 games during the 2007 and 2008 season for the Bills.  He has played 7 years in the NFL covering 98 games, 65 of which he started.  The Bills need some pass blocking as Trent Edwards has been sacked 18 times already this season.  The Bills hope that Walker can help them keep Edwards on his feet.

Is Terrell Owens on his way out for the Buffalo Bills?

Blogged under Big Bills News,General Bills Chatter,Trades by Andrew on Thursday 15 October 2009 at 4:23 pm

The Buffalo Bills (1-4) have been struggling all season and rumors have been swirling that their talented and controversial wide-receiver Terrell Owens may be traded.  T.O. has not made much of an impact, but he has not gotten the ball enough to do so.  Through five games T.O. has 12 receptions for 202 yards and one touchdown.  It seems like the Bills are wasting his talent and the $6.5 million they are paying him.  It might be a good idea for the Bills to trade him and get something valuable for him, before his frustrations get the best him like in years past.  The outspoken wide-receiver has been uncharacteristically non-controversial this season, and has not given the media much to work with.  The biggest rumor on where T.O. might end up is the Chicago Bears.  They now have a good quarterback in Jay Cutler, but their personalities don’t look like they would work well together at all, and Cutler didn’t really say much when asked if the Bears should get T.O.  T.O. is still a great receiver and has a lot of value, so I do think the Bills should trade him and try and get something good for him.  Right now it is all speculation though, so we will see if these rumors turn into anything.

The Buffalo Bills sign safety Todd Johnson

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Bills Chatter by admin on Wednesday 14 October 2009 at 7:20 am

The Bills have signed 30-year old safety Todd Johnson.  Johnson played in 14 games for the Rams last season and he made 24 tackles and forced 1 fumble.  He has now played in 72 games in his NFL career and he has made 196 tackles, defensed 4 passes and he forced 2 fumbles.  With all of the injuries in the secondary the Bills needed to find some experienced help so Johnson fits the bill.

The Buffalo Bills sign linebacker Chris Draft

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General Bills Chatter by admin on Wednesday 14 October 2009 at 7:18 am

The Bills have signed 33-year old linebacker Chris Draft.  Draft played in 12 games for the Rams last season and he made 38 tackles and defensed 1 pass.  He has now played in 138 games in his NFL career and he has made 625 tackles, has defensed 18 passes, has 15 sacks, forced 6 fumbles and he has 4 interceptions.  Judging by the fact that Draft couldn’t make the Rams in training camp I wouldn’t expect miracles out of him.  But with the Bills linebacker situation right now they are very lucky to find someone with the kind of experience that Draft has sitting at home on the couch.

The Buffalo Bills lose two linebackers for the season

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 12 October 2009 at 11:34 pm

The Bills have lost Kawika Mitchell and Marcus Buggs for the season due to knee injuries which will require surgery.  Mitchell finishes the season with 27 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.  Buggs finished the season with 21 tackles and 1 tackle for a loss.  This is a huge blow to the Bills’ especially on run defense where they were already giving up 154.6 yards rushing per game and 4.7 yards per carry.

Cleveland Browns 6, Buffalo Bills 3

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General Bills Chatter by admin on Sunday 11 October 2009 at 5:50 pm

The Bills’ offense and Roscoe Parrish conspired to finish off the team in this game.  PR Roscoe Parrish is the biggest goat of the game for the Bills as he lost two fumbles in this game including 1 with just over 2 minutes to go in the game which set the stage for the game winning field goal by the Browns.  The Browns were giving up 29.5 points per game and 403.3 total yards per game but the  Bills made them look like the Ravens or Steelers on that side of the ball.  Trent Edwards was truly awful in this game completing 16 of 31 passes for 152 yards with 1 INT.  He did his best work when he took off out of the pocket rushing for 40 yards on 4 carries (10.0 ypc).  Marshawn Lynch was playing hard in this game for the Bills as he carried the ball 17 times for 69 yards (4.1 ypc) and he also caught 6 passes for 56 yards (9.3 avg).  Fred Jackson had a rough game though carrying the ball 13 times for 30 yards (2.3 ypc) and he also caught 2 passes for 17 yards (8.5 avg).  Terrell Owens was the leading receiver in this game for the Bills with 4 catches for 44 yards (11.0 avg).  The Bills finished up with 288 total yards on offense in this game (145 rushing, 143 passing).

The defense was solid for the Bills in this game.  DT Kyle Williams was all over the field finishing with 10 tackles, 1 sack, 3 tackles for a loss and 1 QB Hit.  OLB Keith Ellison was also all over the place with 10 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss and 1 pass defensed.  The Browns finished up with 193 total yards on offense (171 rushing, 22 passing).  The Bills are now 1-4 on the season.

Buffalo Bills vs. Cleveland Browns

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,This Week's Matchup Report by admin on Friday 9 October 2009 at 8:24 am

These two teams are very much alike in the fact that neither of them can protect the QB or stop the running or passing game on defense.  The Dolphins rushed for 250 yards last week against the Bills so look for the Browns to keep Jerome Harrison who rushed for 121 yards last week against the Bengals heavily involved.  The Browns will also likely get Jamal Lewis back from his hamstring injury and that would give the Browns some power to blend with Harrison’s speed.  Browns’ QBs have been sacked 13 times this season already and the Bills bring the blitz (11 sacks as a team) so Derek Anderson might not have a lot of time to throw the ball.  But, with the Bills’ secondary likely down three starting players the Browns will try to take some shots deep with rookie WR Mohamed Massaquoi.

With breakdowns in pass protection that have resulted in Trent Edwards being sacked 16 times already this season look for the Bills to run the ball a lot in this game.  Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch should find a lot of running room against a Browns’ D that is allowing 176.8 yards rushing per game and 5.4 yards per carry.  If the Bills get the running game going early it will slow the Browns’ pass rush and allow Trent Edwards more time to throw the football.  This could be the game that Terrell Owens breaks out for the Bills.

PREDICTION:  BROWNS 33, BILLS 30

Terrell Owens is now a ticking time bomb for the Buffalo Bills

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,Need to step up by admin on Thursday 8 October 2009 at 7:18 pm

Pretty soon the Bills will wish they never signed Terrell Owens as he is ready to blow a gasket.  He has caught 8 passes (5th on the team) for 158 yards (19.8 avg) with 1 TD grab.  While Trent Edwards doesn’t have the time to get the ball to the WRs (he has been sacked 16 times this season) it’s only a matter of time before T.O. says that he “sucks” in a post game press conference.  That is…..unless Edwards makes him the go to WR this weekend against the Cleveland Browns.

Miami Dolphins 38, Buffalo Bills 10

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General Bills Chatter by admin on Monday 5 October 2009 at 8:05 am

The Bills looked a football version of the Bad News Bears in this game.  The O-Line couldn’t protect QB Trent Edwards who was sacked six times in this game and they didn’t open any holes for the RBs who averaged only 2.7 yards per carry.  Edwards completing 14 of 26 passes for 192 yards with 1 TD pass and 3 INTs (one was a pick six).  Fred Jackson led the way for the Bills in the running game with 42 yards on 9 carries (4.7 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 26 yards (8.7 avg).  Marshawn Lynch got his first action of the season and it didn’t go too well as he carried the ball 8 times for 4 yards (0.5 ypc) and he also caught 5 passes for 43 yards (8.6 avg).  Terrell Owens (3 rec, 60 yards) and Lee Evans (2 rec, 60 yards) led the way for the Bills in the passing game but Edwards didn’t have the time to get them the ball downfield.  The Bills finished up with 206 total yards in this game (46 rushing, 160 passing) as they only had possession of the ball for 22:51.

The only highlight for the defense was that they had six sacks in this game.  LBs Marcus Biggs and Kawika Mitchell had 9 tackles apiece in this football game.  Safety George Wilson had a big game for the Bills with 8 tackles and 2 sacks.  But the Bills were awful at stopping the run in this game as the Dolphins rushed for 250 yards on 5.6 yards per carry.  The Dolphins only passed for 86 yards but that was because they weren’t that interested in putting the ball in the air.  The Bills are now 1-3 on the season.

Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter,This Week's Matchup Report by admin on Saturday 3 October 2009 at 9:39 am

The Dolphins swept the Bills by a combined score of 41-19 last season.  So the Bills will be looking to get some payback in this fierce rivalry.  To do so the Bills must come out passing the football against a Fins’ D that is allowing 264.7 yards per game through the air.  That means the Bills must protect Trent Edwards (they have allowed 10 sacks) against OLBs Joey Porter and Jason Taylor who will be bringing a lot of heat.  The Bills have no excuse in this game to not get the ball to Terrell Owens and Lee Evans.  Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch will share the carries against a stout Fins’ D that is allowing only 66.0 yards rushing per game and 3.0 yards per carry.

The Dolphins won’t change a bit on offense in this game as they will come out running the ball with Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams against a Bills’ D that is allowing 117.3 yards rushing per game and 4.4 yards per carry.  After the Dolphins establish the running game look for the Fins to throw the ball downfield against a Bills’ secondary that in injured and very vulnerable.  It would really help if Ted Ginn decided to step up in this game.

PREDICTION:  DOLPHINS 20, BILLS 17
