Are the Buffalo Bills really set at QB for the future?
25-year old Trent Edwards shows the ability to be the main man but he’s often injured. He played in 14 games (all starts) last season for the Bills and he completed 245 for 374 passes (65.5%) for 2,699 yards with 11 TD passes and 10 interceptions (85.4 QB Rating). He also carried the ball 36 times for 117 yards (3.3 ypc) with 3 TD runs. In two years with the Bills, Edwards has now played in 24 games (23 starts) in which he has completed 396 of 643 passes (61.6%) for 4,329 yards with 18 TD passes and 18 interceptions (79.1 QB Rating). He has also carried the ball 50 times for 166 yards (3.3 ypc) with 3 TD runs.
27-year old J.P. Losman has regressed over time with the Bills who might be looking to replace him soon. Losman played in 5 games (2 starts) for the Bills last season and he completed 63 of 104 passes (60.6%) for 584 yards with 2 TD passes and 5 interceptions (62.3 QB Rating). He also carried the ball 12 times for 70 yards (5.8 ypc) with 2 TD runs. Losman has now played in 42 games (33 starts) in his career with the Bills and he is 558 for 941 (59.3%) for 6,211 yards with 33 TD passes and 34 interceptions (75.6 QB Rating). He has also carried the ball 103 times for 489 yards (4.7 ypc) with 3 TD runs.
Both Edwards and Losman flash potential at QB but they both are inconsistent and injury prone. It will be interesting to see if the Bills are content to move forward with these two guys at QB.
