The Buffalo Bills young running backs showed big time potential in 2007
The Bills decided to get rid of Willis McGahee in the off-season last year and they decided to go young at running back with good results. Rookie first round pick Marshawn Lynch had an outstanding first season for the Bills as the featured back. Lynch played in 13 games (all starts) for the Bills last season and he carried the ball 280 times for 1,115 yards (4.0 ypc) with 7 TD runs. He also carried the ball 18 times for 184 yards (10.2 avg).
2nd year running back Fred Jackson got his first action of his NFL career in 2007 and he looked good. He played in 8 games (1 start) for the Bills in 2007 and he carried the ball 58 times for 300 yards (5.2 ypc). He also caught 22 passes for 190 yards (8.6 avg).
Anthony Thomas didn’t get a lot of playing time and he performed bad when given the chance last season. Thomas played in 10 games (2 starts) last season for the Bills and he carried the ball 36 times for 89 yards (2.5 ypc). He also caught 15 passes for 95 yards (6.3 avg) with 1 TD grab. Thomas has now played in 86 games (43 starts) in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 1,044 times for 3,891 yards (3.7 ypc) with 23 TD runs. He also caught 113 passes for 756 yards (6.7 avg) with 1 TD grab.
Rookie Dwayne Wright played in 15 games (0 starts) for the Bills and he carried the ball 29 times for 94 yards (3.2 ypc). He also caught 3 passes for 17 yards (5.7 avg).
