Going back to Trent Edwards is the wrong move for the Buffalo Bills

It’s absurd to bench J.P. Losman for struggling against the defenses of the Patriots and the Jaguars…but that’s exactly what the Bills have done.  J.P. Losman has completed 111 of 175 passes (63.4%) for 1,204 yards with 4 TD passes and 6 interceptions (76.9 QB Rating) so far this season.  He also has carried the ball 20 times for 110 yards (5.5 ypc) this year.  Trent Edwards hasn’t played near as well as Losman has this season.  Edwards has completed 80 of 121 passes (66.1%) for 790 yards with 1 TD pass and 5 interceptions (69.9 QB Rating) so far this season.  It will be interesting to see how well Edwards does against an angry Redskins defense on the road.

The Buffalo Bills laid an egg last Sunday against the Jags.  J.P. Losman had a bad game as he completed 27 of 40 passes for 211 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 interceptions.  He also lost a fumble.  Anthony Thomas carried the ball 15 times for 46 yards (3.1 ypc) and he also caught 8 passes for 45 yards (5.6 avg) with a TD grab as he was really busy.  Fred Jackson also pitched in with 5 carries for 18 yards (3.6 ypc) and he also caught 5 passes for 47 yards (9.4 avg).  Josh Reed led the Bills in receiving yards with 60 on 6 catches (10.0 avg).  Roscoe Parrish also had a solid game with 4 catches for 26 yards (6.5 avg) and he also carried the ball 1 time for 24 yards with a TD.  The Bills finished up with 94 yards on 24 carries (3.9 ypc) and they also completed 27 of 40 passes for 203 yards.

The Bills defense was lead by Angelo Crowell (10 tackles) and CB Terrence McGee (9 tackles).  The Jaguars finished up with 124 yards rushing on 26 carries (4.8 ypc) and they also completed 23 of 37 passes for 292 yards.

The Bills were completely destroyed in this game by the Patriots.  J.P. Losman didn’t have his best game as he completed 15 of 26 passes for 173 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception.  He also carried the ball 4 times for 31 yards (7.8 ypc).  Anthony Thomas did the heavy work in the running game but he didn’t get many yards.  He carried the ball 11 times for 31 yards (2.8 ypc) and he also caught 3 passes for 15 yards.  Roscoe Parrish only caught one pass and it went for a 47-yard TD.  Lee Evans also had a rough game as the Patriots held him to 40 yards receiving on 4 catches.  The Bills finished up with 78 yards rushing on 19 carries (4.1 ypc) and they also completed 15 of 26 passes for 151 yards.

John DiGiorgio (11 tackles) and Angelo Crowell (9 tackles) led the way for the Bills defense which was shredded by the Patriots.  The Patriots rushed for 127 yards on 29 carries (4.4 ypc) and they also completed 33 of 41 passes for 383 yards.

Buffalo Bills 13, Miami Dolphins 10

The Bills defense was outstanding in this game and they were the reason the Bills won this football game.  The Dolphins had the ball for 36:59 of this football game and the Bills still held them to only 269 total yards and 10 points!  John DiGiorgio and Terrence McGee each had 7 tackles to lead the way for the Bills defense.  DE Chris Kelsay also had a solid game with 4 tackles and a sack that resulted in a safety.  The Dolphins finished up with 143 yards rushing on 38 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 16 of 29 passes for 126 yards.

The Bills just got barely enough offensive support for the defense to win this game.  J.P. Losman didn’t have his best game as he completed 12 of 23 passes for 157 yards with 1 interception.  Marshawn Lynch earned some tough yards for the Bills as he carried the ball 19 times for 61 yards (3.2 ypc) with a TD run and he also caught 3 passes for 24 yards (8.0 avg).  Lee Evans led all Bills receivers with 4 catches for 65 yards (16.3 avg).  The Bills finished this game with 63 yards rushing on 25 carries (2.5 ypc) and they also completed 12 of 23 passes for 151 yards.
