The Buffalo Bills make a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles

The Bills have received defensive tackle Darwin Walker and a late 2008 draft pick for QB Kelly Holcomb and LB Takeo Spikes. The Bills figured that they have replacements for both Holcomb and Spikes, but they needed defensive line help so this trade really helps them. Darwin Walker played in all 16 games for the Philadelphia Eagles last year and he made 36 tackles, had 6 sacks, 1 interception, defensed 3 passes and forced a fumble. This was a good trade for both teams.

The Bills re-sign running back Anthony Thomas

This was a good move for the Bills in case they wind up without a big-time back. The A-Train played in all 16 games last season (2 starts) and he carried the football 107 times for 378 yards (3.5 ypc) with 2 TD runs. He also caught 22 passes for 139 yards (6.3 avg). Thomas has played 6 seasons in the NFL and he has rushed for over 1,000 yards in two of them.

The Bills re-sign cornerback Kiwaukee Thomas

Kiwaukee Thomas looked around in free agency to find a starting job but he realized that Buffalo was his best opportunity to start now that Nate Clements has left in free agency. Thomas played in all 16 games last season and he made 50 tackles and defensed 5 passes. Look for him to start this season for the Bills.

The Bills trade Willis McGahee to the Baltimore Ravens

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter by dawgpounded on Friday 9 March 2007 at 1:16 am

It seems to me like the Buffalo Bills got kind of stiffed by the Ravens in this trade. The Bills will receive a 3rd round and 7th round pick in 2007 and a third round pick in 2008 for McGahee. McGahee played in 46 games for the Bills in his career (40 starts) and he carried the football 868 times for 3,365 yards (3.9 ypc) with 24 TD runs. He also caught 68 passes for 503 yards (7.4 avg).Â

The Bills release OG Tuten Reyes

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter by dawgpounded on Tuesday 6 March 2007 at 7:44 pm

After the Bills reloaded on the offensive line last weekend they decided that they didn’t have any room left for Tuten Reyes so they cut him loose. He started six games last season for the Buffalo Bills.

The Bills move quickly to improve offensive line

The Bills haven’t wasted any time as free agency opened as they’ve already signed 3 offensive linemen. 26 year old guard Derrick Dockery was signed to a 7 year, $49 million dollar contract! The 6’6″, 335 pound Dockery started all 16 games last season for the Redskins. Over his four year career, Dockery has played in 64 games and started 61 of them. He will immediately step into the starting line up at guard for the Bills.

The Bills didn’t stop their as they signed massive OT Langston Walker to a 5 year contract. The 6’8″, 345 pound lineman will likely start at right tackle for the Bills. He also can play guard if the Bills need him to. He has played in 66 games (33 starts) in his career so far. He started all 16 games last season for the Raiders. He’s known for his nasty run blocking.

The Bills also signed OL Jason Whittle to a 1 year, $720,000 contract. Whittle is 32 years old and will likely back up for the Bills at every position along the O-Line. He played in all 16 games last season for the Vikings, but he only started 2 of them. He has played in 125 games over his career and he’s started 42 of them.

This has been a good day for the Bills as they needed to rebuild their offensive line and today was a good start.

The Bills re-sign cornerback Jabari Greer

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter by dawgpounded on Thursday 1 March 2007 at 11:16 pm

The Bills re-signed cornerback Jabari Greer to a multi-year contract. He might be needed to start next season if Nate Clements leaves as a free-agent, which is very likely. Greer played in all 16 games last season and he made 22 tackles and defensed a pass. Over his career, he has played in 44 games and has made 72 tackles, has 2 sacks and he’s defensed 6 passes.

The Bills release a couple of veterans

Blogged under Big Bills News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General Bills Chatter by dawgpounded on Thursday 1 March 2007 at 11:08 pm

The Bills have released OG Chris Villarrial and S Matt Bowen. Villarrial started 8 games last season before missing half the season because of injury. He started 39 games for the Bills in his three seasons in Buffalo. Matt Bowen only played in 5 games and he made only 2 tackles. The Bills won’t miss these guys too much.
