Bills split on first round picks

Donte Whitner was a good pick for the Bills. Many though he was picked too high, but he’s started from game #1 for the Bills and he’s produced. Whitner has 73 tackles, an interception and he’s defensed 3 passes. He has out-performed some of the players drafted ahead of him and he has a bright future in Buffalo.

Defensive tackle James McCargo didn’t really get much of a chance before injuring himself. McCargo finished his rookie season playing in 5 games, making 6 tackles and defending a pass.

Too much LT for Bills in 24-21 loss

The Bills just couldn’t stop LaDainian Tomlinson and it cost them the football game on Sunday.

J.P. Losman completed 21 of 37 passes for 184 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INTs. Willis McGahee had an awful game as he carried the ball 16 times for 26 yards (1.6 ypc) and a TD. Josh Reed caught 4 passes for 50 yards. Lee Evans added 5 grabs for 45 yards. Peerless Price and Robert Royal each scored a TD.

Takeo Spikes led the defense with 9 tackles. The Chargers carried the football 35 times for 197 yards (5.6 ypc). The Chargers completed 17 of 29 passes for 138 net yards passing.

Close but no Cigar for the Bills.

Buffalo Bills vs. San Diego Chargers

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,This Week's Matchup Report by ravenhater on Friday 1 December 2006 at 9:32 pm

The Chargers are smokin hot as they’ve won their last 5 games and 7 of their last 8. The Bills have won two in a row and 3 of their last 4 games. Something has to give here.

The Chargers will probably keep the gameplan basic as the weather could be bad in Buffalo. The Bills allow 135.2 yards rushing per game and 4.8 yards per carry so far this season. LaDainian Tomlinson should have a field day against the Bills as he has already rushed for 1,146 yards and 21 TDs this season. Philip Rivers will probably stick to the short stuff in the passing game and attack the young safeties of the Bills with Antonio Gates.

The Bills must run the ball well with Willis McGahee (642 yards rushing) or it could be a long day for the Bills offense. J.P. Losman has been playing better of late, but the O-Line will have their hands full with the return of Shawne Merriman. Lee Evans (60 rec, 880 yards) can probably beat the Chargers DBs deep if given the time.

The Chargers are just the better football team here….even if it’s cold.
