Bills get thumped 19-7 by the Ravens

The Bills didn’t play too well today against the Ravens. JP Losman completed 20 of 35 passes for 237 yards with 1 TD and 2 INTs (one of which was returned 31 yards for a TD by Chris McAllister). Willis McGahee didn’t have a chance today as he carried the ball 11 times for 23 yards (2.1 ypc). Lee Evans had a great game with 7 catches for 145 yards and a TD. Roscoe Parrish had a decent game with 6 catches for 50 yards. Peerless Price added 4 catches for 25 yards.

The Bills didn’t play that well on defense. The Ravens ran the ball 30 times for 111 yards (3.7 ypc). The Ravens also completed 23 of 36 passes for 216 net yards passing.

Buffalo Bills vs. Baltimore Ravens

The Buffalo Bills have been playing good football lately as they’ve won 4 of their last 6 games. The Ravens have been dominant for awhile now as they’ve won 8 of their last 9 games.

This looks like a very tough matchup for the Bills. The Bills will attempt to run the ball with Willis McGahee (967 yards rushing) and Anthony Thomas against a Ravens defense that is only allowing 78.3 yards rushing and 3.3 yards per carry this season. The Bills like to throw the ball deep, but will likely have to shorten their pass routes due to the fact that they’ve allowed 44 sacks this season and the Ravens are blitzing demons on defense that already have 57 sacks. Lee Evans (75 rec, 1,147 yards) vs. the Ravens corners will be fun to watch all game long.

The Ravens will likely keep the ball on the ground more than usual due to the poor Bills run defense that is allowing 142.9 yards rushing an 4.8 yards per carry so far this season. Jamal Lewis (1,063 yards rushing) should have one of his best games of the season on Sunday. The Ravens must keep Aaron Schobel (14 sacks) away from Steve McNair. If McNair has time to throw (the Ravens have only allowed 17 sacks this season) he should have a good game. He likes to spread the catches around to TE Todd Heap and WRs Mark Clayton and Derrick Mason.

This should be a low scoring game that is won by the Ravens. JP Losman will make a couple of big errors under duress from the Ravens pass rush and it will cost the Bills any chance of an upset.

Bills nipped 30-29 at home by the Titans

The white hot Titans nipped the Bills in a old-fashioned shootout. JP Losman played pretty well as he completed 19 of 33 passes for 266 yards with 1 TD and 2 INTs. Willis McGahee had a solid game running the ball with 22 carries for 95 yards (4.3 ypc) and a TD. Peerless Price led the way for the receivers with 7 grabs for 73 yards. Josh Reed pitched in with 2 grabs for 70 yards and 1 carry for 15 more. Lee Evans added 5 catches for 64 yards and a TD.

Donte Whitner led the defense with 14 tackles, but as a unit the D played poorly. The Titans ran the ball at will against the Bills as they ran the ball 40 times for 215 yards (5.4 ypc). The Titans also completed 13 of 20 passes for 181 net yards passing.

The Bills fell to 7-8 with this loss and were eliminated from the playoffs. They do look alot better than last season and look like a team on the rise.

Buffalo Bills vs. Tennessee Titans

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, This Week's Matchup Report by ravenhater on Thursday 21 December 2006 at 2:58 pm

The Titans have won 5 games in a row after starting the season 2-7. The Buffalo Bills have won 4 of their last 5 games including a 21-0 shutout of the Miami Dolphins last week.

The Titans will run the football alot against the Bills with Travis Henry (974 yards rushing) and Vince Young (462 yards rushing) doing the bulk of the heavy lifting. The Bills are allowing 137.7 yards rushing and 4.7 yards per carry so far this season so the Titans should be very successful running the ball. The Bills pass defense is allowing 187.3 net yards passing per game, but the Titans will only throw the ball if they have too, preferring to keep the ball on the ground.

The Bills also prefer to run the football. Willis McGahee (872 yards rushing) and Anthony Thomas (368 yards rushing) should have alot of success against a Titans’ run defense that is allowing 145.3 yards rushing per game and 4.5 yards per carry so far this season. The Titans pass defense has been pretty bad too, allowing 221.4 net yards passing per game. So look for JP Losman to attack the Titans deep to Lee Evans (70 rec, 1,083 yards) who could have a monster game.

I like the Bills to end the Titans’ winning streak on Sunday. The cold weather coupled with a big game by Lee Evans will help the Bills prevail.

Bills even up record with 21-0 win over the Dolphins

The Bills played efficient offense and dominant defense in their shutout win over the Dolphins. JP Losman played really well as he hit 13 of 19 passes for 200 yards and 3 TDs. Willis McGahee carried the ball 28 times for 79 yards (2.8 ypc). Anthony Thomas chipped in with 6 carries for 16 yards (2.7 ypc). Lee Evans (3 rec, 67 yards), Robert Royal (3 rec, 62 yards) and Josh Reed (4 rec, 50 yards) each caught a TD pass.

London Fletcher led the defense as usual with 10 tackles. The Dolphins carried the ball 28 times for 112 yards (4.0 ypc). The Bills really played well against the pass. The Dolphins completed 14 of 33 passes for 100 net yards passing.

The Bills improved to 7-7 with this win.
