Bills give Pats a fight before they fall 19-17

The Bills gave a good effort yesterday and had the Patriots on the ropes with a 17-7 halftime lead. The offense didn’t really look to good against the Patriots however. JP Losman completed 15 of 23 passes (65.2%) for 164 yards. Losman still has alot to learn as he was sacked in the end zone in the 4th quarter for the game-deciding points. Willis McGahee ran the ball 20 times for 70 yards (3.5 ypc) and caught 2 passes for 24 yards. Anthony Thomas ran the ball 3 times for 29 yards (9.7 avg) and a TD. Thomas also caught 2 passes for 16 yards.

Linebacker London Fletcher had 10 tackles and returned a Tom Brady fumble 5 yards for a TD. Takeo Spikes played well to as he forced the fumble that Fletcher returned with a wicked hit on Tom Brady. CB Terrence McGee had a nice game too with 10 tackles. The Bills just couldn’t stop the Patriots from running the football. The Pats ran the ball 41 times for 183 yards (4.5 ypc). The Patriots only completed 47.8% of their passes against the Bills for 136 net yards passing.

Bills vs. Patriots

The Bills will try to run the ball frequently on the Patriots, most likely to the outside to utilize Willis McGahee’s speed to the corner. Defensive ends Ty Warren and Richard Seymour will have to contain the outside or McGahee could have a huge game. If the Bills establish the running game, then the Bills will use play-action passes to take shots deep with Lee Evans and Peerless Price. If the Bills can’t run the football, JP Losman and the Bills will have a hard time moving the football.

The Patriots offense will be even more unpredictable than ever now. Tom Brady is great at utilizing every single player at his disposal. I don’t think the Bills will double cover anyone, because if they do Brady will make them pay. I look for Brady to attack rookie safety Donte Whitner in the passing game. Blitzing Brady is usually the wrong thing to do,but they might have no choice.

I look for the Patiots to win this game easy.
