Bills vs. Vikings

Blogged under Front Page,This Week's Matchup Report by ravenhater on Thursday 28 September 2006 at 9:24 pm

The Vikings and the Bills mirror each other in style. Neither team scores alot or gives up alot of points. The Vikings average 17 points per game and allow 15 points per game. The Bills average 17.7 points per game and allow 17.7 points per game.

The Vikings run a very conservative offense and will again vs. the Bills on Sunday. The Vikings will try to run the ball first with Chester Taylor (275 yards rushing) and then Brad Johnson will try to chop up the Bills with short passes.

The Bills prefer to run the ball with Willis McGahee (311 yards rushing) to protect JP Losman from making bad decisions with the ball. The problem with that philosophy against the Vikings is that the Vikings are very solid against the run, allowing only 87.0 yards per game rushing and 3.6 yards per carry. At some point Losman will have to take some chances against the Vikings defense.

I like the Vikings here because they will give JP Losman enough rope to hang himself.

Bills shoot themselves in the foot in 28-20 loss

The Bills were pushing the Jets around, but they kept turning the ball over and it killed them in the end. JP Losman was the main culprit. Losman completed 22 of 38 passes for 328 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT. Losman carried the ball 3 times for 14 yards with 1 TD and 2 LOST FUMBLES! RB Willis McGahee continued his strong start to the season adding 26 carries for 150 yards. The Bills receiving corps had a great game. Lee Evans caught 8 passes for 107 yards, Roscoe Parrish caught 4 passes for 104 yards and a TD, Peerless Price chipped in 3 catches for 49 yards and Josh Reed caught 4 passes for 45 yards.

The Bills defense played pretty well considering the short fields the Jets had because of the Bills offense. The Bills held the Jets to 74 yards rushing and 3.1 yards per carry. The Jets completed 65.5% of their passes for 182 net yards passing.

Bills need to open up the offense

The Bills better start getting the football to their best receiver on the offense, Lee Evans, or else teams are gonna start stacking the box and taking away Willis McGahee and the running game. Evans only has 4 catches for 44 yards and that is inexcusable.

Bills vs. Jets

Blogged under Front Page,This Week's Matchup Report by ravenhater on Wednesday 20 September 2006 at 11:00 pm

The winner of this game could be tied for first place by the end of Sunday, if the Patriots lose to the Broncos. These two teams have very contrasting offenses, the Bills like to run and the Jets prefer to throw the ball.

Look for the Jets to try to run the ball early in the game. Kevan Barlow will get his big shot in this game against the Bills porous run defense that’s allowing 137.5 rushing yards per game. If the Jets can run at all, Chad Pennington will use play-action passing to attack the Bills rookie safeties. WRs Lauvernues Coles (253 yards rec.) and Jerricho Cotchery (186 yards rec.) will seriously test the Bills secondary.

The Bills are very conservative on offense. RB Willis McGahee (161 yards rushing) will be the key to the Bills winning this game. If McGahee can move the chains and keep the Jets offense off the field, it will shorten the game. All Losman will have to do then is manage the game and try to avoid mistakes. It will be easier said than done against Jonathan Vilma and the rest of the Jets defense.

I think the Jets will win this game simply because they are the better team.

Bills Defense dominates the Dophins in 16-6 victory

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page by ravenhater on Monday 18 September 2006 at 1:28 pm

The Buffalo Bills defense kicked the Dolphins butt all over the field and shut them down in a vice. LB London Fletcher had 10 tackles like he normally does. LB Angelo Crowell had an awesome game collecting 7 tackles, 1 sack and an interception. Back-up defensive end Ryan Denney had 3 sacks for a loss of 33 yards! The Dolphins rushed for 92 yards (4.6 ypc). The Bills allowed the Dolphins to complete 71.9% of their passes, but only for 177 net yards thru the air.

The Bills tried to play ball control on offense. RB Willis McGahee ran the ball 25 ties for 91 carries (3.6 ypc). QB JP Losman completed 11 of only 18 passes (61.1%) for 83 yards and a TD. WR Josh Reed caught 4 passes for 39 yards (9.8 avg) and a TD.

This was a huge road win for the Bills!

Safety Troy Vincent out for season

The Bills placed starting safety Troy Vincent on the injured reserve list ending his season. Rookie Ko Simpson will take over for the time being.

Bills vs. Dolphins

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,This Week's Matchup Report by ravenhater on Wednesday 13 September 2006 at 9:26 am

The Bills will run the ball right at the Dolphins’ defense that allowed the Steelers to rush for 143 yards last week. The Dolphins’ front seven, led by Zach Thomas, will have to stop RBs Willis McGahee and the A-Train. If the Fins stop the Bills from running, they will win the game because Bills’ QB JP Losman doesn’t scare anyone. That’s too bad, because Lee Evans would be a star if the Bills had someone that could get him the ball.

The Dolphins will probably switch gears on offense and try to pound the Bills with RB Ronnie Brown. The Dolphins O-Line has been having trouble blocking for the running game, but the Bills run defense might be the cure they’re looking for. The Patriots ran for 183 yards against the Bills last week, despite the Bills having a good line-backing crew led by London Fletcher and Takeo Spikes.  As soon as the Fins establish the run, look for them to attack the Bills deep or run patterns over the middle, as the Bills will be starting 2 rookie safeties.

The Dolphins should win this game by about 10 points.

Troy Vincent injured

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Injury Reports by ravenhater on Tuesday 12 September 2006 at 4:54 pm

Starting safety Troy Vincent left the game with the Patriots with a strained hamstring. Rookie Ko Simpson could get the start against Miami, making both safeties rookies.
