QB battle still ongoing
J.P. Losman looks like the leader but it’s by default. Losman’s numbers look ok, but he’s fumbled a couple times and has the happy feet in the pocket. Losman has completed 62.9% of his passes for 278 yards with a TD and one interception. His QB rating to date is 85.2. Losman will need to start showing some improvement to get the nod on opening day. Just because he was a first round pick, doesn’t mean he should have the advantage here. After all, it wasn’t the current regime that drafted him.
Craig Nall might have moved ahead of Kelly Holcomb with his good performance last week. Nall completed 5 of 9 passes for 63 yards and a TD in his first appearance. Nall has an outside shot to win the starting job, but he has a little catching up to do.
Kelly Holcomb has played poorly in the pre-season. He has completed 5 of 9 passes for 44 yards, and he threw a pick-off that was returned for a TD. His Qb rating is only 29.2. He can still make a move on Losman for the starting job, if he really picks up his level of play. Holcomb has by far the most experience of this bunch.
