John McCargo (1, DT)
Many thought that the Bills reached with this pick to trading up to get him. As Lee Corso would say, “Not so fast my friend”. McCargo was thought of to be the third best defensive tackle in the draft and the Bills thought their was a huge drop-off between McCargo and the next DT. McCargo was a guy they liked all along. He plays with a good motor and is very good in pursuit where most tackles are not. McCargo gives it his all every down. McCargo has excellent quickness off the snap which allows him to hit gaps and get into the backfield.
McCargo played in 36 games at NC State (29 starts) and made 123 tackles, 28 tackles for loss and had 3 1/2 sacks. McCargo was a good pick and all the naysayers will see that starting in September.
