Donte Whitner (1,S)
The consensus on Whitner was that the Bills took him too high. But the Bills thinks he fits their defense perfectly with his aggressive play. Whitner is good in run support but probably needs hidden in a zone defense because his man-to-man coverage needs some work. His aggressive play could be a small detriment to him because he’s not the biggest safety around at 5’10″, 205. Whitner is super fast though as he routinely runs a 4.4 40.
Whitner played in 35 games at Ohio State (17 starts) and compiled 164 tackles, broke up 9 passes and intercepted 5 passes. Whitner should be a started soon, if not opening day.
